Okay let's start with the end. It's not like stainless steel nor is it like paint but it does have a very smooth soft to the touch feel and looks a lot more modern than shiny stainless steel it comes out in like a matte finish even when you put the top coat on. I had so cold stainless steel no matter how much I washed it or polished it or shined it it showed every single watermark every single streak and fingerprint . This was disappointing because these are new only a few years old made by GE. Rather than buy new appliances I wanted to cover the eye or with hopefully something that was qaulity. When I first putting it on it was a little scary. I ended up doing four coats of the paint and two coats of the top coat. You have to be extremely handy which I am and I'm a good painter and furniture refinisher refinisher. If I was a novice I would never recommend taking this on it was a bear it took me all day and you have to put it on with the roller and then squeegee it off and you have to have a very steady hand. I was unable to take off the hardware so that made this extra hard to not make streaks it's not perfect but it looks pretty good. Overall an extremely satisfied with the end result though it was very difficult to get it on rightThis paint did an amazing job on my refrigerator & even had enough left over to do the dishwasher. There was still some left that I thought I’d keep for touch ups, if needed. Well, the paint has held up extremely well on the surface it was applied to. NoComplaints there. And this was over 6 months ago. This leftover can of paint was sitting on a shelf above my washer & dryer since that time.HOWEVER, upon arriving home tonight I heard a high pitched noise. To me it sounded possibly electrical. After flipping the breakers to Off for every thing on that side of the house we discovered the can of leftover paint was making the noise & the can was warm. Warm enough that the wood shelf if was sitting on was warm all the way thru. We removed the can from the house safely & went back out to check on it after 30min or so. The paint was bubbling at the lid.Im going to accept, at minimum, partial blame here. Chances are the lid may not have been secured completely. I didn’t see anything on this paint that says to dispose of unused paint. Doesn’t mean it wasn’t there, just that I didn’t see it.SO… Again the product itself did a fabulous job. But I don’t recommend saving any leftovers.Just this one kit I manage to do my refrigerator, stove & dishwasher and still had half left 5 coats and 3 top coats you must take your take patience wait an hour in between coats and 2hours after the last base coat before using the top coatTip 1: make sure to roll everything the same direction! (all paint, smoothing finish brush, and shine coat)Tip 2: apply the shine coat VERY LIGHTLYThough the COLOR is a bit more gray/silvery than stainless steel it would have looked good IF I hadn't applied the shine coat so thickly.SHINE COAT PROBLEM: IMO the included roller brush is not the best choice for the shine finish, it rolls on too thick. (and the finishing foam brush didn't wipe it off thinly enough.)—Overall, the thicker the shine coat the duller the shine.—BUT the worst part: Anywhere the shine coat is a bit too thick (from uneven surface of fills in a paint streak) it leaves white blotches that can't be cleaned or buffed out. If the shine looks white--it will dry badly.Overall it still looks better than my rusting old white fridge -- but the streaks drive me crazy to look at!This product will look really good in the end, but it's a challenge to apply perfectly. If you need a new appliance for home resale, just buy a new appliance. This process requires patience, fortitude, and you can't be in a hurry or a bad mood. I think it's nickel powder that makes for the "look" of stainless steel and this medium has a mind of its own. The paint quickly hardens and can turn darker in patches. Key points....light coats are good and one or two passes ONLY with the foam squeegee AFTER rolling paint on THROUGHLY is when the "grain" either works or gets messed up. Be diligent and careful to do complete passes up or down with the squeegee, don't stop in the middle, and press firmly, evenly and slowly. If you have grooves or angles to your appliance, good luck! Go back over the 90 degree edges on your appliance carefully, being diligent not to overlap with what you just did on the face or sides. The foam brushes included with roller and the foam squeegee are handy to trim out EVER SO LIGHTLY, like hardly at all, and to take off any excess on the squeegee AFTER each pass. A gummed up squeegee causes real problems. We ended up doing 5 paint coats on our refrigerator and 4 coats of the clear coat. The clear coat can be just as difficult and temperamental, without the powder added, just don't stop mid stroke. And, DON'T GO BACK OVER what you just applied. Let it dry. If necessary sand ever so slightly any build up and god-forbid any drips. We even added the last of our paint to the final 2 coats of the clear coat which made for a deeper and richer finish. We also needed to blend in a few darker spots that stood out to make for an overall even finish. We're happy with the end results, but this was a DIY that required patience and time. Last tips, lightly sand any spots that aren't flush with the original surface before painting (cleaning appliance throughly is a given) and allow yourself enough space to work comfortably around appliance. Remove all the trim you can because any trim in the way will interrupt the flow of the brush/squeegee strokes. Paint trim pieces each time you add a coat to appliance. Have a small roller tray for the paint and clear coat and 2 extra foam brushes if it's two people doing the job.Makes my fridge look new.I wanted to update my kitchen for cheap so buying new appliances was not an option. I had seen this product being used in several DIY youtube videos so I decided to try it myself. I absolutely love how my oven and cooker hood turned out! The application was pretty straightforward and almost three months later the paint still stays on. It's pricey but less than buying a whole new item. Delivery to UK was also pretty quick, about a week.I had waited 8 months for my fridge to arrive (#covidsucks) when it was once again back ordered for an indeterminate amount of time I cancelled the order. So when I found the EXACT fridge I wanted “used” but only a year old (albeit in white not stainless) I was SO excited… And immediately started to Google stainless-steel paint and came across this product.I’ve previously painted a dishwasher with spraypaint but it would have been too cold to paint on my deck and I didn’t want fumes in my dining room… reviews sounded good for this on amazon but even so I am BLOWN AWAY by:A) how good this looks andB) how easy it was! If you can paint a wall successfully and know how to follow directions you’ll be able to do it!My only suggestion if you are doing a side by side like I did is that the giant sponge brush is almost too big to get straight lines for such a narrow space so I actually painted the entire front using the small brush for the first layers then did one final coat with the large brush to hide most of the strokes. Also… the front is perfectly smooth and took 7 coats (instructions say 3-5 but 5 wasn’t enough) the sides had a textured finish and only took 3. Now that I’m all done I still wound up with half a can of both the silver and the clear coat!Thin even coats. You almost dry brush this on to prevent drips! It only takes an hour dry time between layers so i did it over a few days but you technically could do it in one if you timed it.Really happy with everything, so glad I did it and overall saved myself $800!I was a little skeptical about this product, but after watching a few YouTube videos, I got brave and decided to try it. I did my fridge and dishwasher and still had more than half the can left, so there’s more than enough. I think it looks great! This worked magic for us. It does take pretty a much a day to do with the necessary breaks per coat so be sure to set the time aside. My only concern was how settled the base coat was. I had to shake and stir for a lot longer than I felt was or should be needed. I also just had enough to complete a regular size fridge. That said I would highly recommend this product as I am really satisfied with my "new" fridge I have named "Stainley".I didn't expect this to look like real stainless steel. Did 5 coats of colour and 3 coats of topcoat to make it shiny. I think it could use more shine but not sure if it would help to add more coats. Looks much better than the white fridge though. Very lengthy process, took over 8 hours to complete. I'm glad we did this while we wait to get a new fridge.
